Dinedor Parish Council acquired Dinedor Camp as a Community Asset Transfer from Herefordshire Council on 18th October 2016. The site incorporates wooded areas and the scheduled ancient monument that forms the centre of the site. Protected by law, this historic site offers great views of the surrounding countryside as well as offering a peaceful and tranquil area to walk or take in the views. Protecting the archaeology of the site is essential so please observe the signs that can be found at the entrance points.
A Conservation Management Plan has been put in place for this site and a Steering Group has been formed comprising two parish councillors, two members of Dinedor Heritage Group, two members from Dinedor Outdoor Centre and two members of the public. The Steering Group meets quarterly and is working to implement the Conservation Management Plan and maintain the site for the enjoyment of local residents.
A group of volunteers meets on the third Sunday of each month from 2pm – 4pm at the Camp to help with maintenance of the site; removing scrub and fallen branches, maintaining the pathways and managing the trees. The group would welcome new members. If you can spare a few hours each month, or just occasionally, please come along.
